Numeric Input Accessibility Overview
Numeric Input combines a labeled text editor with spinbutton semantics and optional native step buttons.
Keyboard interaction
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Tab / Shift+Tab | Move through the input and enabled step buttons. |
| Up / Down | Step in model units within bounds. |
| Enter | Commit valid input. |
| Blur | Commit valid input and mark the form control touched. |
In your application
- Provide label or an external accessible name and link help/errors with ariaDescribedBy.
- Explain percentage model units and use a deterministic locale for SSR.
- Check form validity before posting data.
Keep focus indicators visible, check contrast with your theme, and test at browser zoom. Try the component examples using only a keyboard.
Current limitations
- Uses JavaScript numbers, not exact decimals.
- Test formatted-value announcements with your screen reader.
This reference is based on the shipped source. It is not a WCAG conformance certificate or a claim that every browser and screen reader combination has been tested.
Compare your workflow with the W3C authoring pattern. The pattern describes the target interaction, not a guarantee of current component support.
