Prompt Box Accessibility Overview
Prompt Box uses a labeled native textarea and buttons, with a polite busy announcement.
Keyboard interaction
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Enter | Submit when submitOnEnter is true and input composition is complete. |
| Shift+Enter | Insert a newline. |
| Tab / Shift+Tab | Move through the textarea, suggestions and Send or Stop button. |
In your application
- Use meaningful labels and keep focus visible in custom templates.
- Handle stop events by cancelling the backend request. The component cannot cancel a provider request by itself.
- Test streamed updates with assistive technology and avoid announcing every token.
Keep focus indicators visible, check contrast with your theme, and test at browser zoom. Try the component examples using only a keyboard.
Current limitations
- Live-region delivery varies by browser and screen reader. No compatibility certification is claimed.
- Application-owned dialogs, generated content and backend errors require their own accessibility checks.
This reference is based on the shipped source. It is not a WCAG conformance certificate or a claim that every browser and screen reader combination has been tested.
See the W3C ARIA Authoring Practices Guide for guidance on custom controls.
