Stepper WAI-ARIA Support
Stepper exposes the selected step and associated content. Use its Previous and Next buttons for keyboard progression.
Roles, states and properties
These describe the installed implementation. ARIA communicates meaning; keyboard handlers and application code provide the interaction.
| Element | Semantics | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Step list and headers | tablist, tab, aria-selected, aria-disabled | The active header has tabindex="0"; other headers have tabindex="-1". |
| Step content | tabpanel, aria-labelledby | The current panel is associated with its step header. |
| Errors | alert | Configured step errors are presented as alerts. |
Current limitations
- Focus movement after programmatic step changes and disabled-step progression need application testing.

Compare your workflow with the W3C authoring pattern. The pattern describes the target interaction, not a guarantee of current component support.
